Juvenile Diabetes Charity Event

I hope everyone has been enjoying their long Labor Day weekend so far! I have so many ideas for my photography business swirling around in my head it's all I can do not to get dizzy! :) I will talk about that more probably in my next post! Right now I want to tell you about the event that I had the honor of taking pictures for. It started on Thursday, August 22nd, when a former teacher of mine messaged me asking if I would be interested in taking pictures for a fundraiser event that coming Saturday, the 24th, at Tara Plaza in Papillion, NE. The event would benefit Juvenile Diabetes. I was so honored that she asked me and the next day told her that I would love to be a part of fundraising event! I was pretty anxious heading out to the event on Saturday. You see, this isn't my usual type of photography. I am most comfortable doing family portraits, senior sessions, couples sessions, maternity and newborn sessions. I, however, am always up for a good challenge and trying something different so with that anxiousness was also excitement!
I was very fortunate to have my older sister come along with me on Saturday, to help and keep me company and after finishing our lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, Mings, we made our way over to Tara Plaza where things were just being finished set up. My former teacher that had contacted me was also a part of the charity event with her and her group Faith Christian Clowns doing some awesome face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon creations and Rainbow Trout (my former teacher) even performed a skit with a few of her clown friends! There were lots of fun and games for the family, as well as other performers through out the day. Also at the event was a camp just for kids that deal with juvenile diabetes everyday, called Hot Shots. The camp gives them an opportunity to see how much they can do and accomplish despite their diabetes.
Last night I finished editing all the images from the fundraising event and will be posting them, most likely to my Facebook page www.facebook.com/kelseyheyenphotography. I can't wait to show you all these great images! If anyone would like to purchase prints of the pictures that I took, please let me know and 1/2 of the proceeds from those print sales will go to Hot Shots and their great camp for kids with juvenile diabetes! So make sure to tag yourself, or anyone you know in the pictures and together lets support a wonderful cause! :)

Thank you for stopping by my little blog and taking the time to read about this charity event that I was fortunate enough to be a part of. Stay tuned until next time when I will talk about all the ideas that are swirling around in my head for my business! ;)

First post as KHP!

Hello! Welcome to my first official blog as Kelsey Heyen Photography! I am so glad you are here! I am so excited about everything I have going on right now with my photography business and I hope you are too!
On Saturday, August 24th I was blessed to be able to take pictures for of a charity event for Juvenile Diabetes. The event had lots of fun and games for the whole family, as well as clowns that did face painting, balloons and glitter tattoos. The event also had great stage acts that included a magician, a dancer, a singer, and even a few of the talented clowns got up and put on a great show! I was so honored to be a part of such a fun event that benefited a great cause! I am working on getting those pictures sorted through and edited and I hope to have them ready for viewing by mid to end of next week. So keep an eye out for those! If it works out, I may post them on here to make viewing easier, so I will be looking into that as well.
I also have an amazing 1 year project I'm working on as well called "Bellies to Babies and Beyond!" which will document the incredible journey of a baby's life from beautiful maternity pictures all the way to their first birthday pictures! This project was inspired by a workshop I watched on the Creative Live channel with Sue Bryce and Kelly Brown. It will be a total of 14 sessions and include 1 maternity session, 1 newborn session, 11 monthly sessions and 1 birthday session and at the end of the incredible one year journey we have taken together I will design a customized baby book with all of your favorite pictures from each session showing the changes and growth of your adorable baby! I would really like to get at least 15 women for this special project, so I would just love it if you could tell any momma that is expecting about this awesome project! :) Keep checking back on my blog for more about what's going on at KHP! Thanks for your support! <3
