Hush little baby...

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well! On Saturday I was so blessed to have the opportunity to take little Miss Selena's newborn pictures at my in home studio! From the moment she arrived until the last minute her mom, Becky and Aunt Caroline were there, little Selana was controlling the entire session...lol. As soon as we were ready to start taking pictures Selena decided to wake up and be a part of what was going on instead of sleeping through it! It took lots of shushes, cuddles, and her momma's magic touch, but finally we got her to sleep...and the pictures turn out gorgeous! Here are a few of my favorites from her session.

Isn't she just gorgeous!? I definitely had to make every shot count with this little girl, but she was well worth the work! ;)

Beautiful Brynlee

In the past week or so, I wrote a post on my Facebook page that I was looking for a newborn baby girl to take pictures of. I had recently received some props I had purchased and I wanted to see them in action! So on Saturday I got a comment on that status from Kristin saying she was interested! I couldn't of been more excited! I was hoping to do a session soon and when she said that the next day (Sunday) wouldn't be to soon I was ecstatic! I made a quick (ahem...4 hour) run to the store to get a few last minute props and backdrops for the session and by the time I was done shopping, and my cart full of new items for the session, (and my head full of ideas as well!) the excitement just kept building.

On Sunday, I arrived at the proud parents' beautiful home around 10:00AM for the appointment and instantly upon meeting Kristin I new the session would be great! She was so welcoming and friendly and it seemed as though we could be old friends. After I was all set up and ready to go we began placing the gorgeous Brynlee into the different poses and on the different backgrounds and she was soooo good! For the entire session (over 2 hours) she slept almost the entire time! She was such an amazing baby to work with! Her brother and sisters were equally good as well! They all were such great listeners and their warm smiles were always ready for me to capture. That day was also the day Brynlee turned 1 week old, so the timing was perfect! I left their house knowing that it was going to be difficult picking the best ones to edit because just seeing them SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera) they already looked amazing! This session was just so wonderful and I am one blessed photographer to have been able to capture those precious moments for this family! Here are a few favorites from my session!

Ideas! Ideas! Ideas!

Happy Labor Day! It has been a nice long weekend with the family relaxing, and has given me lots of time to think about all the ideas I've been having for my business!

On Saturday, November 2nd, I will be a part of Bryan Middle School's second annual Craft Fair. Last year I went solely for my crochet business Tie Up Loose Ends, but this year I wanted to try to incorporate my photography into it in some way. So, I decided I wanted to try to do mini sessions during the craft fair! I'm working on a way to set up a nice Christmas background that would be perfect for taking your Christmas card pictures. The sessions would be 15-20 minutes long and I would do a quick professional edit of 5 different images you can choose from and from there you can order your customized Christmas cards directly from me! The sessions would be $50 and the customized Christmas cards would be $20 for 10, $35 for 20, $50 for 30 and $70 for 40. I can't wait to get all the details worked out for this event and will keep you updated the more I get things figured out!

The other idea that I have that I've been working on getting all the details figured out for is offering sessions called First 48 Sessions. These sessions would be taken at the hospital during the first 48 hours after your baby's birth and document those precious first moments with the new addition to your family.  The session would be 30-45 minutes and include 1-11x14, 1-8x10 and 2-sets of 4 wallets of your favorite poses and would be only $100! Also if you book your newborn session with me as well as the First 48 Session you will get a $50 print credit for your newborn session pictures! I'm still in the beginning stages of this type of session, but if I have any interest I will definitely do a discount off the first session booked!

Well bedtime has quickly approached here at my house and it's time to get my three little ones ready for bed. Thanks so much for letting me share my ideas with you! If you have any questions or comments for me, I'd love to hear from you! :)

Juvenile Diabetes Charity Event

I hope everyone has been enjoying their long Labor Day weekend so far! I have so many ideas for my photography business swirling around in my head it's all I can do not to get dizzy! :) I will talk about that more probably in my next post! Right now I want to tell you about the event that I had the honor of taking pictures for. It started on Thursday, August 22nd, when a former teacher of mine messaged me asking if I would be interested in taking pictures for a fundraiser event that coming Saturday, the 24th, at Tara Plaza in Papillion, NE. The event would benefit Juvenile Diabetes. I was so honored that she asked me and the next day told her that I would love to be a part of fundraising event! I was pretty anxious heading out to the event on Saturday. You see, this isn't my usual type of photography. I am most comfortable doing family portraits, senior sessions, couples sessions, maternity and newborn sessions. I, however, am always up for a good challenge and trying something different so with that anxiousness was also excitement!
I was very fortunate to have my older sister come along with me on Saturday, to help and keep me company and after finishing our lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, Mings, we made our way over to Tara Plaza where things were just being finished set up. My former teacher that had contacted me was also a part of the charity event with her and her group Faith Christian Clowns doing some awesome face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon creations and Rainbow Trout (my former teacher) even performed a skit with a few of her clown friends! There were lots of fun and games for the family, as well as other performers through out the day. Also at the event was a camp just for kids that deal with juvenile diabetes everyday, called Hot Shots. The camp gives them an opportunity to see how much they can do and accomplish despite their diabetes.
Last night I finished editing all the images from the fundraising event and will be posting them, most likely to my Facebook page www.facebook.com/kelseyheyenphotography. I can't wait to show you all these great images! If anyone would like to purchase prints of the pictures that I took, please let me know and 1/2 of the proceeds from those print sales will go to Hot Shots and their great camp for kids with juvenile diabetes! So make sure to tag yourself, or anyone you know in the pictures and together lets support a wonderful cause! :)

Thank you for stopping by my little blog and taking the time to read about this charity event that I was fortunate enough to be a part of. Stay tuned until next time when I will talk about all the ideas that are swirling around in my head for my business! ;)

First post as KHP!

Hello! Welcome to my first official blog as Kelsey Heyen Photography! I am so glad you are here! I am so excited about everything I have going on right now with my photography business and I hope you are too!
On Saturday, August 24th I was blessed to be able to take pictures for of a charity event for Juvenile Diabetes. The event had lots of fun and games for the whole family, as well as clowns that did face painting, balloons and glitter tattoos. The event also had great stage acts that included a magician, a dancer, a singer, and even a few of the talented clowns got up and put on a great show! I was so honored to be a part of such a fun event that benefited a great cause! I am working on getting those pictures sorted through and edited and I hope to have them ready for viewing by mid to end of next week. So keep an eye out for those! If it works out, I may post them on here to make viewing easier, so I will be looking into that as well.
I also have an amazing 1 year project I'm working on as well called "Bellies to Babies and Beyond!" which will document the incredible journey of a baby's life from beautiful maternity pictures all the way to their first birthday pictures! This project was inspired by a workshop I watched on the Creative Live channel with Sue Bryce and Kelly Brown. It will be a total of 14 sessions and include 1 maternity session, 1 newborn session, 11 monthly sessions and 1 birthday session and at the end of the incredible one year journey we have taken together I will design a customized baby book with all of your favorite pictures from each session showing the changes and growth of your adorable baby! I would really like to get at least 15 women for this special project, so I would just love it if you could tell any momma that is expecting about this awesome project! :) Keep checking back on my blog for more about what's going on at KHP! Thanks for your support! <3
